Drake – Scary Hours Reaction/Review

Well, this certainly continues to see Drake come up with mediocre music. I wont venture to say this is absolute trash, but this is just a bland project. Not much ambition or energy on these songs – Drake’s sound has been pretty consistent for a while – boring, monotone music. He’s starting to sound more like 21 Savage and other monotone rappers which to us is not a good move.

What’s Next: Easily the worst song off this project. I have to say this song is hot trash. Boring ass beat that sounds like something I could come up with (yes I do make beats as a side hobbby lol). Some terrible lines come through in this song too. “And Valentine’s Day, I had sex, okay?” I mean, what a terrible line – cool story Drake, we all know you get women. Drake has always been prone to some corny ass lines through the years and this song doesn’t disappoint there.

Lemon Pepper Freestyle: The last time Ross and Drake linked up on Gold Roses it was fire. Great beat with some slick lines and a booming chorus. Well the newest installment in the Rozay and Drake discography is pretty meh. Not much to be excited with here. The sample is nothing special here and the drums and beat just don’t do much for me. This sounds like some elevator music – which really at the end of the day is nothing we want to hear. This song seemingly goes on forever as well – which doesn’t correlate with the song title that has “Freestyle” in it. How can this be a freestyle while being over 6 minutes long? LOL – this song just stretches on for too long.

Wants and Needs: The best song of this bunch – but that really isn’t saying much. The most complex beat of the bunch that has some bounce and movement to it. Unfortunately the chorus doesn’t do it for me and Drake’s singing here just lacks melody. More of his monotone flow and range. And can we stop adding Lil Baby to songs – a lot of these kind of dudes just can’t rap. And they all rap about the same crap. But there are some good moments on this song like the verse for Drake – but not enough to make this a repeatable song in my playlist.

Final Verdict: Scary Hours 2 is close to Trash – nothing to get excited about here.

Score: 4/10
